• Sansiri collaborates with the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University to nurture a new generation of designers through the development of the course INDUSTRIAL DESIGN STUDIO, focusing on sustainable design innovations.
  • Providing a platform for the youth to create through the “Waste Contest” under the theme “THE AESTHETIC FROM WASTE,” breaking traditional learning norms with the challenging task of transforming construction waste into prototype furniture for actual production.
  • Extending sustainability from “within the organization to the community and to the new generation” by shifting the perspective of “waste” into “value,” while actively promoting the tangible goal of Net Zero.

Sansiri Public Company Limited reinforces its role as a leader in sustainability within Thailand's real estate sector through a significant collaboration with the Industrial Design Department at Chulalongkorn University. This partnership involves Sansiri's active participation in developing the INDUSTRIAL DESIGN STUDIO course, transforming construction sites into thought labs that connect students with real issues of construction waste, aiming to make the concept of the Circular Economy tangible and to drive Sansiri's Net Zero goal by 2050 in a concrete manner.

Under the “WASTE TO WORTH” project this year, Sansiri aims to elevate learning from the classroom to real-world experiences by co-designing the curriculum and organizing an Exclusive Class featuring executives from Sansiri, business partners, and experts from leading national and global furniture design companies, such as Mr. Jongkol, Fashion Director, VOGUE Thailand, Mr. Pidetch Chawaldit, Executive Vice President, SB Furniture, Mr. Dulyapol Srichan, Founder & Managing Director, PDM Brand, and Mr. Wikit Plahrit, Managing Director, NORSE Republics, who will share their experiences from design thinking to establishing a professional identity as a designer with creativity and market-relevant potential.

A highlight that ignites students' creativity the most is the field survey of actual construction sites by Sansiri
to learn about systematic waste management processes before utilizing overlooked materials such as aluminum frames, pallet wood, and leftover upholstery fabric as part of the design process in the “Waste Contest” under the theme “THE AESTHETIC FROM WASTE.” Sansiri hopes to inspire students to design beautiful furniture and recognize the 'value' in what others deem 'waste,' proving that good design can change the world. Selected works from a rigorous judging process will be developed into prototypes to compete for a total prize of over 60,000 baht, with the Top 10 designs being produced through the Upcycling process and showcased in the Waste to WORTH Exhibition to highlight the innovative ideas of the new generation.

The Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University views this collaboration as a significant step in enhancing design education, particularly in the field of industrial design, by linking classroom knowledge with real industry challenges to develop students into “Green Designers” equipped with skills and ideas that meet the demands of the modern world. The faculty has co-developed a proactive curriculum that allows students to learn through hands-on practice, from the thinking process, design, prototype development, to actual production in collaboration with leading brands, helping students gain real experience while creating professional-level works and portfolios, preparing them for real-world challenges in the industry effectively.

This initiative builds on the success of the WASTE TO WORTH project - 1 project 1 product in 2025, where Sansiri collaborates with Bangkok to transform construction site scraps into useful items and furniture for the community. Sansiri has continuously elevated its waste management concept, from raising awareness about waste separation within the organization to passing on value to the community and creating opportunities for the new generation to participate in creating works from leftover materials, reflecting Sansiri's role as more than just a housing developer but as a contributor to sustainable environmental concepts, inspiring new designers and architects to take action for the planet starting today.
